Our customers call us the hair ambulance. Usually because they’re Googling at 11pm, fingers gripping a handful of hair that feels like straw, wondering if they’ve ruined it forever.
Here’s the good news: bleached, over-processed hair is fixable. Here’s the better news: it takes seven minutes, not a salon appointment.
First, what’s actually happening to your hair
Bleach breaks the disulphide bonds that hold keratin proteins together in your hair shaft. It also lifts the cuticle — the overlapping scales that protect each strand — and washes out the natural oils and moisture that keep hair flexible. The result:
- Straw texture — the cuticle is raised and rough.
- Breakage — bonds are broken; strands snap mid-shaft.
- Dryness — oils and moisture have leached out.
- Dullness — light reflects unevenly off a damaged cuticle.
A normal conditioner doesn’t fix this. A normal mask slightly better. What you need is heat + bond repair + intensive moisture — together. Which is exactly why we built the Steam Repair Mask.
Why steam changes everything
When you apply a mask to room-temperature hair, the cuticle stays mostly closed. Active ingredients sit on the surface. Steam does something different: moist heat opens the cuticle so actives slip deep into the cortex. Then, as hair cools, the cuticle closes again — sealing repair inside.

What’s in Rehues Steam Repair Mask
- Ligusticum Herb (川芎) — a traditional Chinese medicinal herb with research showing it supports hair follicle and scalp health.
- 11 Amino Acids — the building blocks the cuticle loses through bleach, heat and UV.
- Hydrolysed Keratin — small enough molecules to actually penetrate the cortex, not just coat it.
- Vitamin E (Tocopherol) — hydrates, adds softness and shine.
- Imported PCA Core — balances moisture and oil.
All delivered via a self-warming cap that creates gentle steam — the same heat principle as a salon treatment, wrapped on your head in your own bathroom.

FAQs
Is steam safe for bleached hair? Yes — gentle steam doesn’t apply direct heat damage; it activates moisture and actives. Much gentler than a blow-dryer or flat iron.
How soon will I feel a difference? Most people feel softness after the first session. Bond-level repair compounds over 2–4 weeks.
Can I use it on coloured hair? Yes — the Steam Repair Mask is colour-safe and pairs well with Rehues Colour Lock Shampoo.
How often can I steam? Once a week is the sweet spot. Twice weekly if your hair is severely damaged.
Can I use it without the cap? You can, but the cap-steam is what makes it a salon-grade treatment. Without heat activation, it performs like a regular mask.
